[DIY] PARIS REVERSED

disclaimer - I do not own this design. T-shirt DIY is a inspired look.

I was walking through Zara a year a go and I found this shirt in the men's section and for some weird reason I really liked it, but I didn't like the price. "Limited edition, let's do some simple addition
Fifty dollars for a T-shirt - that's just some ignorant b*tch (sh*t)" - ThriftShop Macklemore
So you get what I'm saying.

"Savin' my money and I'm hella happy that's a bargain, b*tch" - ThriftShop Macklemore
So let's get started!

THINGS YOU NEED

Clean -T-shirt (preferable not as wrinkly as the one I used)
Fabric paint - Jacquard Textiles #122 Black [Blick]
Fine flat precision brush - Blick Scholastic Wonder White Bright #12 [Blick]
Spongey brush - Blick or any hardware store in the paint section
Tape - Preferably masking tape
Your printed out Stencils - DIY
Magazine or something flat to use as a surface for cutting out the stencil as well as painting. I used a portfolio cover.

Directions

  1. Make sure your T-shirt is clean (pre-washed). It'll make the paint sink in better.
  2. Measure the dimensions of the T-shirt so you know how big to print out your stencils.
  3. Print out the stencils on Microsoft Word. Microsoft Word is simple to use to resize the letters and picture
  4. Lay the stencils on the shirt to see if the size is what you like and then start cutting
  5. I used an exacto knife to neatly cut out the stencils
  6. I also used scissor to cut off any loose pieces of paper hanging.
  7. Lay the stencil  on the T-shirt and tape it down.
  8. Start painting - dab using the spongy brush in larger areas and use the finer flat brush to neatly paint the edges. Make sure you have something flat on the inside of the shirt so the paint won't leak through the other side of the shirt. I just used a portfolio cover that I used when cutting out my stencil.
  9. Wait for it to completely dry
  10. Turn the shirt inside and out and iron
  11. Wash normally
I didn't realized some of the paint leaked through a crack in my portfolio cover so I just drew a macaron because who doesn't love macarons?

Upcyling: Chocolate & Rings

"Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get" - Forrest Gump

I've been studying for my Pharmacy Exams and been REALLY REALLY REALLY (total understatement) STRESSED OUT. So, whenever I'm stressed, I like to do something crafty and today  I was going to burst so I ran to the craft store and bought a few things and BAM - I decided to make a Ring Jewelry Box. I didn't film a DIY video or anything because it was strictly just a de-stresser, and my mind was a blurr but I thought I'd share the result because I actually really like how it came out. I mean I guess I'll take advantage of this to make a blog post ;)

Supplies I used:
9 Foam cut into 1" strips
Black old T-shirt
Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Box
2 Small brass hinges
Lace trimming
Glue gun
Old gift card of some sort
Exacto knife
Nail polish remover (WITH ACETONE)

STEP 1 - Removing the labels: Use Acetone base Nail polish remover and just SCRUB & SCRAPE. I noticed it working better if you let the nail polish remover sit on the area for a bit and then start scrubbing and scraping it off.

STEP 2 - Making of the Box: Using the top cover, pick a side that you want as the back. The red line in the above picture tells you where you have to cut. The diagram on the left shows the top view of the cover/lid. You see there are two layers bordering the cover when you look down at it. You are only going to cut the OUTSIDE border along the red line.
The picture on the right show if you were ground level with the lid and looking straight at at it from the side.
Be careful!!! it takes some time and patience to cut threw the plastic, and also don't press too hard or else you might have unwanted pieces cut & flying apart. I highly recommend putting some music on, because it does cause a screeching noise while you cut.

Your lid is then going to look like this:

The green line is where you cut already.

Put the lid on the box and glue on the hinges  so it opens and closes
I think this part is pretty much common sense.
Just make sure you let the glue COMPLETELY dry before you start opening and closing or else you'll just have to re-glue the hinges OVER AND OVER again. Trust me I learned this the hard way.

STEP 3 - DETAILS: With the lace I just glued the trimming along the top of the lid to make it look more aesthetically pleasing.

STEP 4 - INSIDE CUSHION: The inside is a little more difficult to explain through pictures so here two videos from anneorshine on how to do the inside cushion part. I used the same technique as her first video for my storage box. I added an extra step of glueing some of the foam pieces down because some of mine kept popping out.

DIY organizer

DIY Organizer

I always need ways to organize my things - especially at my apartment. I don't really have the funds to buy one of those nice acrylic or plastic ones, so I've invented my own with everything I had at home! I saved some money and got to be a little creative! Try it out! Recycling is good  or how I like to put it, "Up-cycling"

Video is literally the WHOLE time I worked on this project + thought process SOOO it's a bit lengthy. Don't say you weren't warned. Enjoy!

Items you will need:
  1. Boxes/containers
    1. Boxes I used were from small gifts, a bible, naked 3 palette
  2. Fabric
    1. I used mine from other DIY (aka old clothes I don't wear)
  3. Hot glue gun or E600 OR fabric glue ( for when you have to glue the fabric on fabric)
    1. *** BE CAREFUL WITH THE GLUE GUN - I burned myself multiple times during the making so if you are young or don't know how to use PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have adult supervision/assistance
  4. Scissors
    1. *don't run with these

Make up brushes are held in place with beads to keep them upward

Halloween 2013

SOOOOOO originally I was going to be one of the Ironettes from Iron Man 2. However, I didn't prepare my body/work out as I wanted so I decided to scratch that idea and not make that costume. I also thought I wasn't going to do anything for Halloween so I didn't think much of it. BUT THEN plans came up and I needed to wip up something quick and fast so, this is what I came up with!

clean dishes or dirty dishes??

A lot of college students have issues with house and apartment stuff. One small issue of my place would be knowing if the dishes in the dishwasher are clean or not. So I decided to make a sign/switch to show you. Just slide the lever left or right and you've got your answer :)

DIY: Lace distressed tutorial

Hello,

Lace has been "in" for awhile and I admit, it's a clean chic look as long as you have the right amount.

So everyone has seen these kind of shorts at least ONCE this summer and it costs a crap ton out of your wallet. It seemed simple enough to re-create so I thought, why not try!

Here is my spin off of how to make these denim shorts! I used all recycled fabric from my previous  projects and old clothes that I don't wear no more.
